I am going to keep this blog post short, sweet, and to the point. It’s Monday yet again – the day that most of us dread. Monday symbolizes that the weekend is officially over and that the start of the work week for many has officially begun. This is the case whether you work inside the home or outside of the home, unless of course you work weekends. In that case some of this may not apply to you. However, I encourage you to keep reading.
Monday is the day we start to wish away the next five days so that we can start enjoying the weekend again. We are all guilty of it at one time or another. The problem with wishing away the days of the week is that ultimately we are wishing away the days of our lives (not the soap opera) instead of enjoying them. I mean think about it, while you are wishing away your days, someone out there is praying for more of their own. They are wishing for more time in general. More time to work, more time to learn, more time to grow, more time to spend with people that they love, and ultimately just more time for the little things that we constantly take for granted.
Life is a precious thing that so many of us take advantage of. It really is a privilege denied to many people who deserve it. We waste so much energy on things that do not matter, not in the grand scheme of it all. We don’t say things we should out of fear of rejection, more importantly we don’t live our lives and enjoy each moment because we always think we will have more time. The truth is, in the words of Kenney Chesney, “when your hourglass runs out of sand you can’t flip it over and start again.”
Be grateful that you woke up. Take chances. Be kind. Learn and grow. Say those things you want to say without fear of rejection. Enjoy the little things. Instead of wishing away your life, try embracing each moment.
